Our Philosophy of Pastoral Counseling & Relationship Coaching
In Luke 4:18, the Lord Jesus said “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the Gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed.” Our counseling approach is to follow Jesus’ method which gently leads people to identify emotional pain and the spiritual problems connected to that pain.
Emotional pain often begins early in life and recycles through life and often shows up later in hindering marriage and family relationships. Each person is shown understanding, care, and acceptance as they open up to share the emotional pain with the counselor. They are encouraged to allow the pastoral counselor to help them bring the emotional pain to the Lord Jesus in prayer so Jesus uniquely heals their emotional pain (broken heart). In that context they are led to forgive and experience forgiveness and freedom from the strongholds that Satan has used to hinder them.
When individuals or couples are able to resolve their core emotional pain, which hinders emotional, relational, and spiritual intimacy, they start caring for other’s emotional needs in a refreshing new way that brings healthy growth to the relationship. They are also given practical tools on how to keep their hearts open to give and receive love as God intends.
